Happy Friday Aspen families!
Just a quick recap of all of the fun we had this week. This is the last week we will be working with leaves, fall vegetables and fall weather. To finish up this theme your kiddos observed different leaves from our garden and playground. We discussed how they are different and how they change. We finger painted pumpkins, and used watercolors to decorate fall leaves. All children engaged in a fall matching game, where they identified animals and scenes of fall. We read books about pumpkins and worked on counting ten individual objects with High-Scope. We opened our pumpkin “Elephant” to discover what is inside using our senses. Aspen continued to work on name recognition by tracing their names with bingo dabber’s. We introduced handy helpers this week to allow everyone the opportunity to contribute to their classroom. All children will take turns choosing a “job” they would like to participate in for the week. This has been very exciting for the whole class. In Aspen we will continue to work on identifying emotions of our peers, simple problem solving skills as well as self-help skills. As each week progresses, they become more successful. Next month we will dig deeper in to feelings, pumpkins, apples and our Earth.
Music: This week Ms. Kathleen introduced a new book, “Three Little Kittens.” We danced the Polka with scarves and played on the drum to a steady beat. Children also worked on tone as they sang into the microphone. We also identified different sounds and emotions cats have by listening to “meow” sounds on the IPOD.
Literacy: In Literacy Ms. Charlotte continued to work on new rhyming words and nursery rhymes. Children continued to work on identifying fall objects.
P.E: Today children worked on balance, as they walked the tight rope and stepped on bubbles. They used their core and leg muscles to stay atop the tight rope and bubbles without falling off. They also danced to Ring-Around-The-Rosie.
