Good afternoon Aspen Families!
We have stayed very busy this week discussing: feelings and pumpkins.
We had a puppet show which allowed Aspen children to visualize how to play cooperatively together. We read Sheep is Sacred and Alligator is Angry. We had a great discussion about when we feel sacred and how to calm down when we feel angry. The children had a small group lesson using magazine faces to identify a variety of emotions.
Your children played a pumpkin counting game using simple addition and subtraction; followed with the book Ten Orange Pumpkins. We also followed a recipe and mixed ingredients to create pumpkin bread. We then tasted the pumpkin bread we created, and the children seemed to enjoy their creation. Aspen also has new gourds in our classroom the class has named them; “A MONSTER and A MONKEY.”
On Thursday Aspen had a wonderful visit from Talking Hands/Talking Feet. On Friday Beth Epley treated us to fun stories and songs! What a fun week, filled with music and movement!
Music: Ms. Kathleen continued with the book and song, My Favorite Things; The Sound of Music. We used rhythm sticks to build our shoes to a new cobbler song. Then danced with scarves to bumble bee buzz and groovy ABC’S.
P.E: Aspen worked on balancing by walking on the curvy tight rope. We played red light, green light and danced to bop till you drop. Aspen worked all of their muscles: running, jumping, hoping and dancing.
Literacy: We matched objects to short stories and rhymes. Aspen worked on clapping syllables and rhyming words with songs surrounding harvest.
Just a friendly reminder, the weather is changing and before we know it we will see snow. Please bring your child all the necessities they will need to be outside: gloves, scarves, hats, boots, coats and snow pants. One last reminder please do not bring in toys from home, they could get lost, broken or create choking hazards. Thank you!
