Good afternoon Evergreen families!
This week in Evergreen the children learned all about apples. The children were introduced to a Science lesson illustrating the life cycle of an apple. Every day they worked on cutting the cards, and did their best to glue them in order.
There was a lot of cutting practice as a project was added to the art shelf. The children practiced cutting a straight line, a curvy line, and a zigzag. Some of the children compared this to a geometry lesson they worked on, cutting up a shape and putting it back together like a puzzle. Others used crayons to color the pieces as they cut each section apart.
The children listened to a story about a little house with no window, no doors, and a star inside. They discovered the story was about an apple. We cut the apple open, found the star, and spent the rest of the week pressing apples into ink and making prints on paper.
The children continued to practice leaf rubbings with an activity set up in the science center. When the leaves dried up, some children helped find new leaves outside on the playground.
On Thursday, we had special musical guests, Paul and Melanie from Talking Hands Talking Feet, join us at Treehouse. We danced, learned some new songs, and sang along with some familiar favorites.
The Evergreen classroom has a Weather Center, where we will be charting data about the weather. W is the weather person that shows the children what they need to wear or take with them outside.
We started having some chilly mornings this week. It is time to stock some warm hats and mittens in cubbies to prepare for cooler weather. Please label hats, mittens, and jackets with your child’s name. The children are practicing hanging clothing in their cubbies, but sometimes things end up on the floor or in a friend’s cubby.
Have a fantastic Fall weekend!

Ms. Riann, Ms. Lindsey, Ms. Suzan, Ms. Becky, and Ms. Suzanne
