October 14

Good afternoon Cedar families,

This week Dogwood and Cedar learned about scarecrows and fall animals.  The children looked at pictures of baby animals and listened to animal sounds.  The children sang “I’m a Little Scarecrow,” “If You’re Happy and You Know It,” “Bats are Sleeping,” and “5 Little Scarecrows.”  The children read The Red Barn, Watching the Seasons, This Pumpkin, Say Boo, and I Love Fall. During art, the children made scarecrows with stickers, used glue to make leaves and apples, and created a leaf mural.

The children worked on their large motor skills when kicking balls, jumping off the wooden step outside, running races, and walked on tiptoes.  During P.E. with Ms. Kira the children walked on tight ropes, played “Ring around the Rosie,” and chased Ms. Kira!

Practical life skills were used when the children practiced putting socks on and taking them off.  The children also learned about up and down using bean bags and animals.

During music with Ms. Kathleen the children read/sang My Favorite Things.  The children also danced with scarves, sang into the microphone, and did pony rides (teachers bouncing the children on their legs).

Have a great fall weekend!

Ms. Amy, Ms. Brittiney, Ms. Karen, Ms. Delanie, and Ms. Piper
