Hello Garden and Mountain Families.
This week we focused on a theme of ‘wild animals.’ This is such a broad topic, but we tried to stick with animals that would be seen around Colorado, such as: deer, foxes, squirrels, coyotes, etc. We read Amazing Animal Alphabet, Animals and Their Hiding Places, I Love Animals, and In The Woods: Who’s Been Here? We also looked at other informational books with pictures of different animals. The favorite seemed to be bears. The children growl when they see them.
We sang along to a The Bear Went Over the Mountain book and sang “The Wheels on the Bus,” and “Five Little Ducks.” Ms. Kathleen participated in the fun by bringing little stuffed woodland animals for the children to hold while she played the sounds they make. This activity was educational for all of us.
The children colored with some new paint crayons and stamped their hands to make turkey feathers. The Mountain children have been very busy with their large motor skills this week. They have been pushing push toys around inside and outside, cruising up and down the loft, and climbing on mats and the outside climber. It’s great to see them developing their muscles.
Have a great weekend!
