December 9

Hello Aspen families, we’ve had such an amazing week!  This week we continued to explore shapes using the shape song and gingerbread shape matching. During our large group, children matched letters and fed them to a silly snow man. They followed a recipe to build a group snow man and matched letter mittens. During our small groups children painted snow, created ginger bread bears, and followed a recipe to create individual snowmen.

This week we read: Duck on A Bike, The Gingerbread Bear, Rubia and the Three Osos, Max the Brave and the Napping House. On Thursday, we were so excited to receive our new tunnel for, “9 gifts of Christmas” from Evergreen. The children enjoyed exploring this during those frigid days when we were unable to enjoy the outdoors.  We had a blast maneuvering through an obstacle course in the big room. The children were so excited to find new ways to move their bodies! On Friday, we built snowmen and played in the snow!

Spanish: During Spanish Aspen worked on words surrounding the holidays. The children discovered new words like tree, ornament, present and Santa Clause.

Literacy: During literacy Aspen enjoyed listening to nursery rhymes. They read, Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star and they were introduced to rhyming words in the story. Children played “I Spy” using objects from the book.

Music: During music Aspens continued to work on their Light and Love songs.  We can’t wait!

High scope: Children worked on counting and practicing one to one correspondence with dinosaur objects.

Have a great weekend!
