Good afternoon Birch families,
This week the Birch class turned their attention to the human body and our five senses. During small circle, the children sang along to “Head, shoulders, knees, and toes”, “The hokey pokey” and “Mi Cuerpo”. The children also listened along to the books These Are My Hands, The Foot Book, Yum! and Look!
During music with Ms. Kathleen, the class practiced keeping the rhythm on a drum, created music using shaker eggs and jingle bells, danced with scarves, and listened to different owl sounds.
Practical life skill continued to grow by transferring water between cups in the sensory table, working with bristle clocks, working with nesting cups, practiced color matching and shape matching puzzles.
The class continued to work on their large motor skills by jumping with two feet, practiced kicking a ball back and forth to a friend and practiced the yoga poses “butterfly”, “cat-cow” and “down dog”.
During P.E. with Ms. Kira, the Birch class practiced walking across bubble steps, imitated animal actions and played Red light, Green light.
Next week, we will be turning our attention to Peace Education in honor of Martin Luther King Day.
Have a wonderful weekend!
Ms. Nicole and Ms. Itzel
