January 20

Hello Garden and Mountain Families.

This week we focused on a theme of ‘dinosaurs.’ Even though this is not a concept the children can fully grasp at this age, it is still fun for them to look at pictures and talk about it. We read Roar: Dinosaur Counting, Dinosaur Day, Dinosaur Explorer, Lift-the-Flap Dinosaurs, I’m a Dirty Dinosaur, and Dinosaurs Fun to Learn. We looked at lots of pictures and talked about the different types and parts on dinosaurs.

We sang a couple songs about dinosaurs set to the tune of popular songs, and stomped around and roared. The children painted dinosaur eggs with chubby markers, put their handprints onto a dinosaur to makes its spines, and colored print-outs of different types of dinosaurs. The Mountain children also dug for dinosaurs in sand, which was a great sensory activity.

Please help us in welcoming our new friend, Ruthie!

We hope you all have a wonderful and fun-filled weekend.
