Good afternoon Cedar families,
This week the children learned about love and friendship. The children read books about things and people they love such as The Feel Good Book, My Friends/Mis Amigos, Me and My Mom, Me and My Dad, and What Mommies/Daddies do Best. During small circle the children sang “Skidamarink,” “The More we get Together,” “Love is Something,” “Make New Friends,” and “You are my Sunshine.”
During art, the children used rollers with red and white paint to make pink paintings. The children also used water colors on coffee filter hearts, made some handprint hearts, and explored with foam paint. Flower petals were used in the sensory table with alligator tweezers.
The children worked on their large motor skills when trying star jumps, which was then accompanied by singing “Five Little Monkeys Jumping on the Bed.” The children walked across the balance beam on the playground, practiced throwing and bouncing balls, and walked on their tip toes. During P.E. with Ms. Kira the children galloped like horses and flew like birds.
Practical life skills were used when children practiced folding their blankets after nap. The children used shape sorters, large beads, and small cups to pour water. The children also worked on using manners, specifically saying “Thank you.”
During music with Ms. Kathleen the children expressed themselves through music using shaker eggs, bells, and scarves. Ms. Kathleen played a recorder for the children as well as their favorite animal sounds.
We hope you have a great weekend!
