This week in Forest children finished building props and materials for their community centers. Children took on roles as librarians, story tellers, actors and actresses, police officers, detectives, nurses, doctors, dentists, firefighters, and postal workers. Children learn through their interactive play as well as through books and lessons about each community worker. We will continue to add on to each center over the next few weeks!
In music, Forest children had another special visitor present string instruments. Children had opportunities to listen to and play a violin, a viola, and a cello with a musician during their music class.
In literacy, children participated in interactive read-a-louds and shared reading. They also wrote about what they wanted to be as adults. After discussing with friends, each child drew and practiced writing to say what they wanted to be when they grew up.
In math and science, children worked in small groups and individually on math skills. Children worked on number recognition, spatial awareness, one to one counting, and measuring. Children also had the choice to make play-dough and slime. They took turns measuring ingredients with measuring cups and mixing up the dough!
Please make sure your child has snow pants, a winter jacket, a winter hat, gloves, and snow boots at school to fully enjoy the cold weather!
Have a fantastic weekend!
