Hello Forest Families!
In Forest this week, children added on to their community play centers. In the police station, we discussed forensics and children practiced taking their own fingerprints. In the fire station, children made firefighter hats based on real gear- they distinguished between the roles of captain, lieutenant, and firefighter to make the role they wanted. In the theater, children reread Goldilocks and the Three Bears and retold the story through props. In the library, children became authors as they put books together and worked on independent writing!
This week in literacy forest children practiced their remembering and retelling skills. Children participated in interactive read-alouds and worked on writing about the stories afterwards. Forest children also worked on rhyming this week- we read books focused on rhyme and we discussed what makes a word rhyme.
In math, children worked in small groups and independently on math activities. We practiced number recognition by searching for numbers between 1 and 100. We also practiced one-to-one counting and memory skills using play-doh.
Please remember Forest will have their individual pictures taken next Thursday on March 16th and for children to “wear something fun” that day!
Have a great weekend and enjoy the weather!
