Dear River Families,

This week in Kindergarten, the children enjoyed comparing and contrasting themselves with a friend in a friendship venn-diagram! The children completed an activity in which they defined a problem and wrote different solution options. In math, we counted and filled in the blank for number charts 1-100 and started a new unit on measurement.  The children focused on centimeters, inches and feet. In centers this week, the children created graduation invitations for their loved one and different people around the school.  In another center the children made a special book about their mom for Mother’s Day. These books are in their Friday folders!  Our third center was writing a letter of advice and things to look forward to for the Kindergarteners at Treehouse next year.

Ms. Kathleen worked with the children on the graduation performance and Ms. Susan played jeopardy in Spanish! Ms. Emily had the children create an end of the year art project in which the children design a chosen, “happy place”, within a small box using a variety of materials.  Ms. Emily wrapped up our wood and paper unit by having the children make their own paper this week!

We have a busy last few weeks! Next week 5/18 we will take the bus to the Wow! Museum in Lafayette. The children need backpacks, walking shoes, Treehouse shirts and a sack lunch (no nuts).  Graduation is 5/25 at the Lafayette Public Library at 11:00am with reception to follow at Lucky Pie. We will have school on 5/25 as the children will make last touches on packing up, rehearsal for graduation, last day of school reflections and goodbyes. Please pick up at Treehouse after 10:30 in order to head to the library for graduation. Please feel free to ask if you have any questions! Thank you for a great lunch for teacher appreciation! Have a good weekend.

Sincerely,

Ms. Stephanie and Ms. Kira
