Hello Aspen families, what a fun week it has been in Aspen class!

This week was all about boxes, boxes, boxes and so the kids have been creating and building with different sized boxes all week. In addition to those boxes the kids all worked together to build, paint and decorate the big fire truck. Everyone got a turn to sponge paint the box and stick a decoration onto the truck. The kids have loved taking turns playing in pairs in the fire truck!

This week in big circle we have read books including Under the Sea, Fire Fighters, Fighting Fires, Squid Kid the Magnificent and A Little Story About a Big Turnip. The kids painted egg carton boats in small groups and tested the boats to see if they would float. They also discussed what it means to sink and to float and guessed some objects that might do both.

On Thursday everyone went to the petting zoo on Evergreen playground and got the chance to see, pet and feed two goats, a bunny, a donkey, a pony and a pig. Then on Friday everyone also got to sing and dance with Ms. Beth Epely. It has been a busy week!

With Ms. Susan in Spanish this week the children worked on the words for door and ball as well as practicing their colors with a bean bag game and counting with ball tosses.

In music the children sang songs about sailing and talked about sailboats. They also danced to slow music with scarves and used shaker eggs along to music.

The kids had literacy with Ms. Charlotte again this week where they read Chicken Little the Sky is Falling as well as a book about firemen and played I Spy.

Have a wonderful weekend!
