Good Afternoon Evergreen Families
This week we picked vegetables and herbs from the garden. This has been a long-awaited task as the children have been watering and watching how the garden has grown. We had enough zucchini to make zucchini muffins with. Thanks to Ms. Mary they were a welcomed dessert after lunch. Some of the herbs and onions were brought into the classroom to examine with a magnifying glass and we also described the smell of each herb.
We continue to have new activities as we explore and get more information about bugs and insects. This week the children had a visit from Nature’s Educators who brought with them a Tarantula, Millipede and Cockroach. In the classroom, we have read non- fiction and fiction books about bugs and insects as well. They also have been drawing their own bugs and using other materials to make insects.
Finally, we continue to pretend play “family” in the dramatic play center. While some of the children were playing they asked to add a few more items. This lead to a discussion about what we needed for the family. They came up with new clothes for the babies and sun screen “for when the family goes outside”. On another day, the children decided that “mommies needed to go to the gym” and turned the blue rug area into a “gym”.
Have a wonderful weekend
