July 14

Hello River families!

This week we have been learning about invertebrates, specifically insects and arachnids.  The class has really enjoyed a robo-spider that walks around and climbs small inclines.  We also had a visit from Nature’s Educators.  They brought quite a few invertebrates for the children to observe and learn about.  Some of the favorites were a skeleton tarantula and an African millipede.

In music, the class has been playing Yankee Doodle on combs.  They make a buzzing sound when covered with wax paper!  In Spanish, the class has continued to review emotions and transportation.  Another activity the children have enjoyed is building mazes for the water marbles to roll through.

Next Wednesday (7/19), River will be going on a field trip to Festival Plaza in Lafayette.  We will be taking the city bus and eating lunch there.  At Festival Plaza, the class will get the chance to play in the fountains, so please make sure your child has all the following items:

  • Treehouse t-shirt
  • Bathing suit
  • Towel
  • Water shoes
  • Sun hat
  • Sack lunch (no nuts)
  • Backpack large enough to fit everything in
  • Non-leaking water bottle
  • Water shirt (optional)

Have a great weekend!

Ms. Kira
