August 4

Good afternoon Aspen families,

We had a very busy week in the Aspen Classroom! We studied music around the world!  The children listened, danced, and played musical instruments to jazz music, we differentiated between loud and soft sounds in classical music, and discussed instruments used in Native American and African music and whether the sounds they made were high sounds or low sounds. The children also practiced feeling the beat as we danced to Pete the Cat, Doing the Animal Bop, and Down by the Station.

In high scope this week, the children played shape hopscotch. This activity helped the children practice their shapes and counting the number of jumps they took.  During group time, we read various stories like Henny, Pirates don’t take Baths, Scuba Dog, and Dragon Love Tacos. For work period, the children worked in the water table, explored boxes that they made into houses, and worked with sound matching activities. For art, the children used animal stamps in paint, and used markers and stickers on paper to make a drawing of their favorite instruments.

During P.E. the children ran super hero, frozen, and crab walk races outside as well practicing balance by doing some yoga exercises. This week in Spanish we reviewed many of the things that they learned this year. They practiced counting to 20, colors, items of clothes, the seasons, and animals to name a few.

Please remember to sign your child both in and out. Thank you!

Have a great weekend!
