November 17

Hello Aspen families,

The children have been very busy this week learning about different kinds of transportation and travel.  We also read the book about stone soup and talked about Thanksgiving. The children worked on two art projects this week, one turkey tail feather project for the classroom wall and one handprint turkey to take home.

In circle this week we read the books Some Friends to Feed, The Big Train Book, On the Plane, Bear Gives Thanks, and Don’t Let the Pigeon Drive the Bus. Monday was focused on travel by train, so the children set up their own train tracks across the classroom and set up a train car which they took turns playing as the conductor. Tuesday we talked about how to make stone soup and how it is only possible with the help of our friends. Thursday and Friday we talked all about visiting the airport and traveling by air plane, including getting tickets, handing them to the flight attendant and finding their seat so the pilot could take off. On Friday the kids also worked on packing their own suitcases by gluing clothing items and accessories into their own suitcase.

In Spanish class this week they worked with Ms. Susan on practicing their new food vocabulary as well as practicing counting and colors.

Ms. Kathleen brought in bells to play this week, which was so much fun! They also continued to practice their Light and Love songs and listened to their favorite animal sounds, the owl sounds.

With Ms. Charlotte they read the story One Little, Two Little, Three Little Pilgrims and talked about Thanksgiving next week. They also played I Spy and learned a bit about how to use the library.

For PE this week we brought out the parachute and some bean bags for the children to get familiar with the motion of moving the parachute up and down and to play popcorn with the bean bags!

Have a great weekend!
