Dear Dogwood families,
This week Dogwood and Cedar learned more about love and friendship and practiced being kind to others.
During small circle, the children sang “Skidamarink”, “Love is Something”, “You Are My Sunshine” and “The More We Get Together” During story time the children listened to Llama Llama I Love You, Hugs and Kisses, Me and My Dad, Me and My Mom and Loving.
The children worked on their large motor muscles by practicing balancing and walking on the wood ledge outside and by doing running races with friends and teachers! Inside, the children worked on folding their blankets and stringing large beads as an individual activity.
And during art, the children used a foam heart pad as a stamp and glued heart tissue to paper to make a Valentine’s card and painted purple hearts with bingo dabbers. Lots of hearts this week!
This week they explored Ms. Kathleen’s guitar – they love to hear her play the guitar! They got to touch the guitar and she played their favorites songs. Ms. Kathleen had just returned back from a vacation in Tasmania and she brought back some finger puppets of the native animals that live in Australia. The children enjoyed playing with them and hearing their sounds.
On Thursday we welcomed a visit from Ms. Joy – a local professional musician. She gave a presentation to the toddlers about the string instruments and the children were mesmerized listening to her play the violin, viola and especially the cello!
