Hello Birch families!

This week, the Birch class talked about Valentine’s Day and Chinese New Year.  During small circle, the children listened to the books Hug, Love You Forever, You Are My Little Bunny, and I Love You All Day Long.  The children also got to glue hearts, we decorated red lanterns with bingo dabbers for Chinese New Year, we made hand print hearts, we did some coin rubbings, and we painted with red and gold!

During music with Ms. Kathleen, brought her guitar and the children sang “Baa Baa Black Sheep” and the children danced with scarves!  Ms. Kathleen also introduced us to Ms. Joy – a professional musician from the Center for Musical Arts.  Ms. Joy showed the children different string instruments, played them for us, and let the children touch them!

This week, we practiced sitting on the edge of the rug during circle time, practiced picking up pom-poms with tongs, practiced hanging up our jackets on their hooks, singing the “ABC” song while washing our hands and, and we practiced pushing in our chairs when we got up from the table.

The Birch class continued to enhance their large motor skills by crawling through the rainbow tunnel, practiced walking backwards and side stepping outside, kicking a ball to a friend on the playground, practiced standing on one foot, and having races on the playground!

Next week, we will be talking about President’s Day!

Have a wonderful weekend!
