Hello March!
What a beautiful week with warm temperatures and blue skies! It’s hard to believe we started the week with a playground full of snow! With that said, please check your child’s cubby for one set of weather and size appropriate clothing. Our cubbies are small with two containers for organization. The closed container is for extra clothing and the open basket is to be used for hats and gloves. Please give your child’s cubby a quick glance for anything extra that may have accumulated. We will be doing another round of cubby cleaning next week and a table for lost and found in the morning by the end of the week. The children love to organize and have a great sense of pride with taking care of their space.
Donations – We are in need of recycled plastic grocery bags if you have any to spare.
Our focus this week – We continued our topic of culture and celebrating differences. This topic was fascinating and so much fun to learn about. We discussed foods, clothing, housing and celebrations in other parts of the world.
Our class is fortunate to have Ms. Suzanne who is a native to Sweden share topics of interest. The children got a big kick out of hearing Ms. Suzanne read the Three Little Pigs in Swedish!
Science – We reviewed group lessons on sinking and floating, living and non-living, magnetic and non-magnetic objects.
Specials – Music! We studied the percussion family. Ms. Kathleen removed the front panels of the piano to give the children a better idea of the construction and design of the instrument.
Tools of the Mind / Dramatic Play – All three of our stations are up and running! The children were busy making props and brainstorming jobs for each station. Be sure to ask your child about a few of the jobs and responsibilities of the boat dock, train station and airport.
A peek into next week – Health! We will discuss ways to keep our bodies healthy through exercise and nutrition.
Have a great weekend!
Ms. Melissa, Ms. Jess, Ms. Suzanne and Ms. Freya
