Hello Cedar Families,
This week in Cedar and Dogwood, our topics were reptiles and St. Patrick’s Day. We talked about different types of reptiles such as chameleons, turtles, and dinosaurs (which your children are very excited to talk about, as you may know!) The children also practiced walking on their toes, jumping with two feet, walking on the balance beam, and kicking cones outside. For small group lessons, we talked about what St. Patrick’s Day is all about, and looked at reptile flashcards.
During circle time, we read Hippo is Happy, The Ducking Gets a Cookie, Little Dinos Don’t Bite, Wheels on The Bus, and Green. The children were busy taking care of their environment this week when they folded wash clothes, hung up the dress up clothes, and washed the tables with a wash cloth and water spray bottle. In art, we colored on a big piece of paper with crayons, which turned in to a discussion about not eating crayons. We explored with foam paint (which the kids discovered has a very interesting texture), and made shamrock hats in honor of St. Patrick’s Day. The children also explored with water and cups, and scoops in the sensory table.
This week in music class, Ms. Kathleen brought triangles, maracas and hand drums for the children to play. We also sang “Baa Baa Black Sheep” and “Waking Up is Hard to Do”. The children also practiced playing instruments such as jingle bells and shaker eggs to different tempos, and danced to songs like “We Are the Dinosaurs” and “Going on a Bear Hunt”.
Have a wonderful weekend!
Ms. Jessica, Ms. Delanie, Ms. Delani, Ms. Brooke and Ms. Karen
