Hello Evergreen Families!
This week in Evergreen we continued our unit on farm to table. We continued our discussion of what a farm is and what types of things grow or live on a farm. In science, the class continued its vegetable growing experiment of a carrot and sweet potato. The children noticed that roots were starting to sprout out of the bottoms of both! The children continued their discovery of farms in science by matching smells you might smell on a farm. Different bottles were filled with the scents of hay, dirt, garlic, mint, and peppers. The children smell the bottles and match the scent to the correct picture. Another fun farm experiment the children enjoyed was milking a cow!
The Z story this week focused on “Deciding Together.” The class learned how to work out problems they might have and determining if there are multiple solutions to the problem and testing them out, instead of getting angry with each other. In math, the class continued with geometry and shapes and made their own shapes. They also practiced counting spots on cows. In literacy and writing, the class learned about the letter F and its beginning sound.
Finally, the children enjoyed some St. Patrick’s Day activities. They decorated shamrocks using glue, salt, and water colors. Colored in shamrock designs, and made leprechaun hats!
Have a great weekend,
Ms. Kristine, Ms. Kira, Ms. Meghan, and Ms. Riann
