Good afternoon Cedar families,
This week in the Cedar and Dogwood class’ we learned about bugs and butterflies, we talked about different kinds of bugs we see here in the spring and summer, like lady bugs, and grasshoppers. We went searching for bugs on our playgrounds, rumor says that our lucky friends in Aspen class found lots of lady bugs on their playground! The Cedar and Dogwood class’ were only able to find a few ants on their playgrounds this week, but will keep looking all season long. The children practiced going up the stairs and down the slide (rather than just climbing up the slide), as well as walking in their tip-toes and jumping as high as they could. In our small group lessons this week we looked at pictures of bugs and practiced saying the names of all the different bugs, we also sang “Mr. Sun” and “Baby Bumble Bee”.
During circle time, this week we read: The Very Hungry Caterpillar, Ladybugs, The Rainy-Day Adventure, From Caterpillar to Butterfly, and Mouse’s First Spring. This week the children built their practical life skills by Stringing large beads, hanging up their dress up clothes on the hooks, and folding wash cloths. This week during art we painted with orange, and colored with crayons. The children were able to explore with sensory bottles, wet and dry sand, and hard and soft items.
During music with Ms. Kathleen we played the jingle bells. She also brought back the ever-popular Driving My Tractor book, as well as scarves for the kids to dance around the classroom with. The kids also sang along to the Pete The Cat books and danced to “We Are the Dinosaurs”
We would like to wish a very happy birthday to Adeline in Dogwood!
Please welcome Ms. Maria to the Treehouse toddler team. Maria has several years experience working with young children and she is Early Childhood teacher certified. We are happy to have her on board!
Have a fantastic weekend!
