Dear River Families,
What a week! The children were very proud to perform for all of you and show the Treehouse community how hard they have worked on, “Over on a Mountain, Somewhere in the World”, over the past two months. It was extra special for everyone to see the art that they have worked on this year! The children enjoyed putting the finishing touches on the Spring Performance this week including making healthy snacks for the audience on Thursday. Thank you all for your participation and support of the performance!
Centers this week included creating a book about wood and paper and defining earth day words while discussing ways that we can care for earth everyday not just on Earth Day. The children identified ways that their families already care for earth at home and a few things they can change/new things they can do to contribute (ex. using both sides of paper to color, reducing waste, minimizing water use, carpooling or riding bike). As a part of our unit on paper and wood, we identified the properties of wood and made predictions about if certain objects would sink or float! The children learned what making a prediction means and learned that it is okay if it is wrong. Math this week included working with addition games and number families.
Our next and final field trip will be to the Wow! Museum on 5/24. The children will pack a lunch, partake in a workshop on wind and explore the museum! This is a special end of the year field trip and we would love 3-4 parent chaperones for this event. Please let me know if you are interested!
Sincerely,
Ms. Stephanie and Ms. Lauren
