Good afternoon Dogwood families,
This week in the Cedar and Dogwood class’ we talked about the South American Rain forest. We looked at pictures of frogs, and snakes, and practiced our frog noises. The children also learned about the things they can do to help protect the rain forest, like recycling, and only using one paper towel. We practiced walking in a straight line, kicking the soccer balls outside, and jumping as high as we could. In our small group lessons this week we looked at pictures of rain forest animals, and sang “Five Little Monkeys Sitting in a Tree” and we practiced the tree pose in yoga.
During circle time, this week we read: Be Kind to Trees, Animal Homes, Little Dinos Don’t Yell, Are You My Mother, and Pete the Cat. The children continued to work on their practical life skills this week by sorting colors, cutting pretend fruit, and scooping stars. This week in art we painted with green, and explored with water colors. The children also explored with spray bottles outside, and the difference between wet and dry sand.
In music, this week Ms. Kathleen brought back the shaker eggs, and the children danced with scarves to Mozart’s children’s symphony. When Ms. Kathleen wasn’t around the children enjoyed a drum circle, to which they brought their own “drums”. And as we are sure you know your children are quite creative and will make a drum out of almost anything, we had boxes, and kitchen items, and chairs, all sorts of wonderfully different drums!
Have an amazing weekend and enjoy the wonderful weather!
Ms. Jessica, Ms. Brooke, Ms. Maria, Ms. Delanie, Ms. Delani, and Ms. Karen
