April 20

Good afternoon Birch families,

This week in Birch we talked about Recycling. What is Recycling?  We discussed what can be put in the trash and what should be recycled, and practiced sorting our classroom trash and recycle. We practiced throwing balls, and stacking egg cartons, as well as stomping on bubble wrap. In our small group lessons this week we looked at pictures of recyclable items and sang the “Recycle Song”.

During circle time, this week we read: Be Kind to Trees, Where Does Rubbish Go, Garbage and Recycling, The Great Trash Bash. The children worked this week folding blankets, and putting together a large puzzle on the floor. This week in art the children painted egg cartons with sponges. The children also explored with elements of nature in the sensory table.

In music, this week Ms. Kathleen introduced us to a new book called Knick Knack Patty Whack, and introduced us to some new instrument sounds. The children also used their recycled materials to make instruments of their own this week.

Conference Day Monday!

Have an amazing weekend and enjoy the wonderful weather!
