Hello Evergreen Families!
This week we continued our study of caring for the earth by asking the question, “How did you celebrate Earth Day?” The children discussed what they did with their families over the weekend to take care of the earth in celebration of Earth Day. The class talked about ways to celebrate and take care of the earth even when it isn’t Earth Day by doing things such as recycling at home, picking up trash, and reusing items.
Staying with our big idea of caring for the earth, the children learned how to make bird feeders out of recycled cartons. Ask your child how to make one, and your family can have its own recycled bird feeder, bringing nature even closer to home!
The Z story this week focused on remembering friends. In the story, the children and Z reminisced on their memories together throughout the year. The children learned from Z how friendships change and grow, and it is ok to be different. The class then talked with each other about different memories they had from over the school year.
The letter Xx was introduced and the children learned how to write it and the sound it makes. In math, the children used geoboards with rubber bands to make different shapes.
We welcomed Emilee Dorny as our new teacher this week. Emiliee has a degree in Early Childhood Education and she is eager to work with the Evergreen kiddos. Welcome Ms. Emilee!
Have a great weekend!
