April 27

Hello Garden and Mountain families,

This week our theme was baby animals.  During circle we sang “Five Little Ducks”, “Baby Beluga” and “Rock-a-by Baby”.  During circle the children listened to the books: Touch and Feel Baby AnimalsOh Baby! The A to ZGlobal Babies, and Mama’s Milk.

For large motor activities this week, the children crawled through balls and bean bags. The child also rocked on the seesaw on the playground and practiced the Child’s Pose yoga move.

For art this week the children spent several days coloring with crayons. These first experiences with making marks on paper are the first steps children take towards learning to write. Here is an article from NAEYC on simple ways parents can support pre-writing and pre-literacy skills as your child develops:

In music class with Ms. Kathleen, the children listened and sang along to classic nursery rhymes. They also continued their exploration of bells and dancing with scarves.

We celebrated one birthday this week. Happy first birthday to Jack!

Next week, Ms. Stephanie will be out Monday through Thursday for an unplanned event, and Ms. Lindsey will be out for a couple weeks beginning Friday – she and her husband are finally going on their honeymoon!  You can expect to see Ms. Amy, Ms. Chelsea and Ms. Patti helping out in the classroom during the week.

Have a great weekend!
