Hello Aspen families,

This week in Aspen the children were very busy learning about gardening and flowers. The children learned that soil, sun, and water are three things that help children grow.  In circle this week we read Who likes Rain?, The Carrot Seed, We PlayMs. MacNosh and the Giant Squash, and Finding Wild. The children thought of words that rhymed with “Spring” and “Rain” and looked at the different parts of a flower like the petals, stem, and leaves. Next week will continue talking about flowers and why they are important.

This week the children strengthened their fine motor muscles with works like play-doh and floam. Children also practiced their pouring skills in the water table where they had blue soapy water, funnels, and pitchers. They also practiced pouring sand from one jar to another. They worked on their hand eye coordination by scooping sand from one dish to another.

In Spanish this week the children reviewed color words, counting with a ball, and clothes. In music this week Ms. Kathleen brought in her guitar and sang finger play songs with the children and they also composed their own songs to sing while she played the guitar with them.  Ms. Kathleen also brought in her Three Little Kittens to share and sing with the children. This week in literacy the children listened to Little Red Hen and made connections to baking with dough and sharing the work load with others. This week in high scope the children played shape hop scotch practicing shape recognition and counting.

Have a wonderful weekend!

Ms. Megan, Ms. Kate, and Ms. Mallison
