May 11

Dear River Families,

This week in Kindergarten, the children continued working with money, adding cents and sorting coins.  In centers this week, the children created graduation invitations for their loved ones and different people around the school! The children made a special book about their mom for Mother’s Day and finished putting together their special gifts for Mom. They also began a Kindergarten memory book!

Ms. Kathleen worked with the children on the graduation songs and Ms. Susan played jeopardy in Spanish. We finished making paper and will decorate the paper next week! The children have been practicing tossing and catching using Velcro paddles and tennis balls.  Over the next few weeks we will do many games, relays and obstacle courses outside! We have a busy last few weeks! Next week, “Guess My Object”, shares continue. In Peace the children began writing poems about Peace and what is peaceful to them. We will share these poems at our Poetry Tea on 5/18! You are welcome to join this event in the morning 9:00-10:00. We would love a volunteer or two to help us by getting flowers, table clothes and help to set up! The children are welcome to dress “fancy” for this event if they would like. Additionally, it is Ms. Charlotte’s birthday and we would like to surprise her with flowers and a special book the children made for her.

On 5/24 (Thursday) we will take the bus to the Wow! Museum in Lafayette. The children need backpacks, walking shoes, treehouse shirts and a sack lunch (no nuts).  Graduation is 5/31 at the Lafayette Public Library at 11:00am with reception to follow at Lucky Pie. We will have school on 5/31 as the children will make last touches on packing up, rehearsal for graduation, last day of school reflections and goodbyes. Please pick up your student after 10:30 to arrive at the library for graduation. Doors open at 10:30 for extended family to find seats.

Please feel free to ask if you have any questions!

Have a good weekend!

Sincerely,

Ms. Stephanie and Ms. Lauren
