Good Day Evergreen Families

This week was fantastic with great weather and new experiences. The class took a nature walk. They looked for butterflies and bees pollinating flowers and as they walked also observed how big and green their surroundings were. Again, the students had a lot to say about how the bees, butterflies and even worms help gardens. The students were also presented with a pollination activity in which they saw how pollen is transferred. Each student was given a “bee” with clear tape attached then brushed against some sugar and saw how easily it stuck to the bee.

We also did a few activities called Story Lab which is when a small group is read a familiar book and asked to listen for a specific prompt. This week we read Give Bees a Chance at group time and discussed the story and listed new facts. Then in small groups later in the week we read it again this time asking them to listen for an interesting or new fact. They then shared their facts to the group and there were so many details described.

In other areas, this week we…

  • Planning time the children are writing initial letter sounds on their lines
  • Used “worms” to make art with, demonstrating how a worm leaves a trail as they move thru the dirt
  • Conversation cards highlighting our similarities and differences
  • Writing Graphics practicing their names and the letter J, M and S

Thank you, have a great weekend!
