Hello Aspen families,
This week the children took a look at nature and focused on mud! We discussed animals and bugs that like mud. We also talked about the changes of seasons from spring to summer. In circle we read Summer Days and Summer Nights, A Grand Old Tree, The Farm, Farm Animals, and The Garden. In art the children made muddy leaf prints outside.
During water play, the children worked in the water table with a water tower, funnels, pitchers, as well as paint brushes and water to paint the fence. They also used squirt bottles to water the grass and plants on the playground. The children rode bikes and used the climber on the preschool playground this week! The children also made mud and buried different animals to unearth.
The children continued to work on their fine motor skills with pinching and molding floam, as well as pouring and scooping sand.
In music this week Ms. Kathleen brought Puff the Magic Dragon for everyone to sing along. The children also rocked and swayed while singing slow lullabies. In Spanish, the children learned summer activities and reviewed counting, colors, and vowels.
The petting zoo came to visit this week. The children were able to pet horses, pigs, and goats! On Friday, Ms. Beth Epley visited with her stories and guitar.
Next week we will continue exploring mud. Have a wonderful weekend!
