Dear Forest Families,

We are off to a great start this summer in Forest! We introduced our outdoor work station with awesome new works for building, water play, and art. Our outdoor work period runs from 10:00 – 11:00 daily. At this time the children are allowed to take the materials from the prepared shelves and work in the the grass, picnic tables, or on yoga mats. We encourage the children to work in the shade as much as possible and to drink extra water. Our class has started a chart graphing how much water each child drinks daily by how many water bottle refills.

This week – We studied life on a farm! We had lessons and read books about:

  • Farm Jobs – feeding animals, milking cows, plowing fields and planting crops.
  • Farm animal sound games of identifying sounds heard.
  • Farm homes matching for a pig/sty, hen/roost, horse/stable, cow/field.
  • Farm animal matching to their babies. The children matched a cow/calf, goat/kid, pig/piglet, hen/chick, sheep/lamb, horse/foal, goose/gosling, cat/kitten, dog/puppy.
  • Rooster art lesson.

We had a wonderful visit from Little Angels Petting Zoo. The children had the opportunity to pet a pig, rooster, goat, pony, donkey, and rabbit. It was so much fun watching their excitement and gentle care while petting the animals.

A peek into next week- Insects and field trip to Waneka Lake Park in Lafayette! Please check your parent files for a permission slip.

Have a wonderful weekend!

Ms. Melissa, Ms. Jess, Ms. Kira, and Ms. Riann
