August 24

Hello Birch Families,

Let us start off by saying “Welcome to Birch!” This week in Birch we talked about classroom rules and routines. We practiced saying everybody’s names and being kind.  The children also learned how to use the work on the work shelves. We practiced using walking feet in our classroom, had running races outside, and practiced throwing balls outside as well. We sang “Wheels on the Bus” and “Baa Baa Black Sheep.”

During circle time we read Little Monkey Calms Down, Little Tiger Picks Up, and Hands Are Not for Hitting.  During work time the children worked with beading and animal lacing cards and practiced sweeping. They also worked with putting buttons in the coin slot, sorting colors, and washing tables.

In art we colored with crayons, explored with play-doh, and painted with primary colors.

In music with Ms. Kathleen we danced with scarves, listened to family sounds, and jumped along to the bouncing song.

Thank you all for a fantastic first week!

Ms. Sloan and Ms. Delani
