Dear Forest families,
We are off to a wonderful start in our room! The children are very excited to be in their new environment.
This week’s focus was to familiarize the children with their new classroom. We had lessons on where to find their belongings, where the bathrooms are located, and areas of the classroom to find work. Our classroom areas consist of Geography, Science, Literacy, Math, Art, Building and Play.
We also took the opportunity this week to remind the children of the rules of the classroom.
- Walk slowly
- Talk quietly
- Be kind to others
- Be responsible for yourself
- Do your best
- Listen
In science: The children had lessons on Living and Non-living and Plants and Animals. In these lessons the children classify the differences between the two groups.
We discussed the four characteristics of living things by explaining all living things need food, air, water, and can reproduce. Non-living do not have these characteristics.
We discussed that both Plants and Animals require the same characteristics but animals are able to move. They have hair, scales, feathers, bones, blood, and organs.
Art – The children were given a lesson on the basic shapes to make a house.
Spanish – The children are learning the names of animals. They learned: pig, sheep, cow, and dog through literacy and coloring pages.
A peek into next week- Friendship. We help the children understand how to make friends and how to be kind to others.
Have a terrific weekend!
