November 9

Dear Forest families,

This week’s focus – We read Friends to Feed by, Pete Seeger, The Story of Stone Soup. The story is about a soldier who comes to town very hungry to a village experiencing famine and the grown ups tell him there is nothing to eat. But with a little ingenuity and some help from the village children, the soldier concocts a plentiful brew, all the while singing a a wonderful song. Before long, there’s enough to feed the whole village after everyone contributes to the soup.

We introduced Stone Soup as dramatic play center with characters, props, and and the village center.  The children are really having fun acting out the parts and singing the song!

Next week we’ll be making soup for our annual stone soup lunch on Thursday, November 15th. This is a community project and all Treehouse students are participating! We are asking each child to bring in one ingredient or item to add to our soup lunch.

Please check your parent folder for your assigned ingredient to bring to school by Tuesday, November 13th!

Parents are welcome to join!

A peek into next week- We will learn the story of the Mayflower’s Voyage and learn about the the native inhabitants of the the region the Wampanoag tribe.

Have a wonderful weekend!

Ms. Melissa, Mr. Jay, and Ms. Jessica
