Hello Birch Families,
This week in the Birch class we talked about calming our bodies. The children practiced taking deep breaths as well as some calming yoga poses like child’s pose and downward dog. We discussed feelings and where on our bodies the children feel them. The children identified their bellies as the source. This week the children sang “ABC’s,” “The Fire Truck Song,” and “Mr. Moon” because sometimes singing a song can be calming too!
During circle time we read I Can Stay Calm and Curious George’s ABC’s. This week our practical life focus was on cleaning up after ourselves, the children talked about what to do when they hear the clean up song. They also worked on cleaning their space at the table when they were done! In art, the children made green hand prints and colored with chalk on a big piece of paper then put stickers on it.
In music with Ms. Kathleen the children played the jingle bells and rocked like sail boats to music, which turned out to also be quite calming. The children also marched around with instruments and participated in a drum circle.
Thank you for another lovely week!
Ms. Daisy and Ms. Delani
