Dear Evergreen Families,

This week has been very exciting and busy. We have opened our two new dramatic play areas in our classroom. One area is the kitchen and the other is the family room. The children helped make the props for the two areas. In the kitchen they helped to make a microwave and a refrigerator. The children will continue to add props as new scenarios arise. In the family room area, the children helped by making a TV and a remote. Family games will be added to this area as well. 

In small groups the teachers have continued working on graphic writing. This week the teachers have added circles and slants into the writing. The children are also doing a game called “I Have, Who Has?” This game is parts of the Tools of the Mind training and helps with self regulation and memory and it is also very fun for the children. Another group worked on a Tools activity called “Remember and Replicate.” In this activity, the teacher makes a pattern with play dough, covers it up and asks the children to try to replicate the same pattern. Then the teacher uncovers the pattern so the children can check their work. This activity is becoming a favorite in the classroom. 

As always the children have been enjoying music with Ms. Karina and Spanish class with Ms. Susan. Ms. Beth Epley was here Friday for some storytelling and music.
