November 1

Dear Forest families,

We hope everyone enjoyed a fun filled and safe Halloween!

What a week we have had! We certainly didn’t let the snow get in the way of celebrating!

We took the time to carve pumpkins, explore the innards and learn all about the life cycle of a pumpkin. The children also worked on weaving their own spider webs by lacing yarn. Lots of things to bring home in art folders this week!

During literacy the children worked on a classroom book where each had the opportunity to draw themselves as who they were dressing up for Halloween, then work on writing lines with the prompt “I am going to be” and then the character.  I am encouraging them to work on writing what they hear at the beginning of each word when they say it. At the end of the week I was able to read it to the class.

In math the children measured pumpkins, bats, and spiders using unifix cubes. On Thursday they played a fun game of Halloween themed bingo and tried out a fun science experience called the exploding pumpkin. The class learned that not all experiments turn out the way we predict but that was okay because that is what learning is all about!

More fun to come next week!

Enjoy the weekend,

Ms. Jess, Ms. Lori, Ms. April, and Ms. Blanca
