Dear Garden and Mountain families,

In Mountain this week we read Going to the Zoo by Tom Paxton and illustrated by Karen Lee Schmidt. This book is an awesome sing-along story about going to the zoo that the children enjoy. The children were also able to explore the sensory table with soapy water and different zoo animals. This large group activity allows the children to take turns and engage with one another.

We continue to stay busy each day by taking stroller walks and exploring our play area outside. In music the children enjoyed exploring the rhythms sticks and were interested in Ms. Amelia’s new good morning song.

The children practiced stacking with different sized blocks and nesting cups. Stacking toys such as building blocks or nesting cups are not only useful in developing hand-eye coordination but also for stimulating your child’s imagination, improving spatial awareness, and promoting logical thinking. These blocks are simple to use and can provide children with hours of fun.

In Garden we have a group of 6 month old infants and it is now a social party! It is so much fun that no one wants to miss out.  We are working hard to get these party animals to take a rest! This is a normal stage in their development along with the changes in their diet and cutting teeth. To tackle these new developments we are working on routines and reassuring them that we are close by (object permanence).  As all stages in children this too shall pass, then on to the next one!

We hope everyone has a wonderful weekend!

Ms. Miranda, Ms. Andrea, Ms. Jess, Ms. Mariela, Ms. Delilah, Ms. Danielle and Ms. Erin
