January 10

Dear Aspen Families,

2020 has started off with tons of fun and excitement. We welcomed many new children who officially started this week. The new children are adjusting to the classroom and have been learning the routines as well as making friends.

This month of January we are learning about the human body. Some of the books we read related to the human body included My Body Head To Toe written by Lisa Byllard and I Love You Nose! I Love You Toes by Linda Davick. The class had an opportunity to participate in activities related to our skeleton. The children glued straws in the shape of their hand to represent the bones in our hands. Another activity the children participated in was a sorting game using small, medium, and large bones. The children were also engaged in a conversation about where their small bones, medium bones, and large bones are located. The children were able to look at pictures in a book to see what a real skeleton looks like.

This week we also worked on a high scope activity called “Birthday Cake.” The children made their own cake with play dough and used colored pencils as candles. This activity helped the children to understand counting and to learn the words “more” and “less.” It was clear that the children had lots of fun and did not even know that they were learning math!

Have a great weekend!

Ms. Randi, Ms. Daisy, Ms. Delani, and Ms. Allie
