Dear River Families,

It was another busy week in Kindergarten. We introduced a new unit on mail, and the children have enjoyed writing letters to friends and family. They will be using actual USPS stamps and practicing addressing their mail. If you have not yet sent in the addresses of 2 people that your child would like to write to, please do so at your earliest convenience. The children are also working on making a Valentine for every child in the class. On Valentine’s day next week, we will pass out all their hard work for them to enjoy. Please do not send in other treats or cards.

We have been reviewing writing words with the blends ‘tr’ and ‘dr.’ These can often be confused with ‘ch’ (ex. Train, trip as chain and chirp) and ‘jr’ (ex. Drive and drink as jrive and jrink). If you have more questions about this feel free to ask!

We had a field trip on Thursday to the Lafayette Library, and the children enjoyed learning about how the library works and each of them chose a book to bring back to our classroom. This was a practice for our next field trip to the library to begin our “research” for our Spring Performance! The Spring Performance/Art Show will be on April 16th. The children will spend the next two months working on this and I will provide more information soon about costume deadlines, themes and animal/character assignments.
