Dear Birch families,
This week we have been learning about Africa and African animals. Did you know that cheetahs are the fastest animals on land? They enjoyed reading African Adventure by Tony Mitton and Ant Parker, and looking at all the different animals that are in the book. We played a game where they had to guess if the animal belongs in Africa or in the Arctic. We will keep practicing this game next week also.
For art the children made hippopotamus prints, which you can see displayed on our walls.
This week we went to the library! The children loved the adventurous walk down the hall. They did so well reading independently and reading as a group.
We went for a few walks this week! The children heard birds chirping, owls hooting, and airplanes flying in the sky. They really enjoy feeling the cold snow and stomping the snow off their boots. They are also very interested in watching the “worker guys” install the new solar panels. They wave hello every chance they get!
Ms. Amelia has introduced a stuffed monkey to music class named Mr. Bananas and the children love hugging him and copying the movements his very long arms make! They learned “Pop! Goes the Weasel” and love to jump with Mr. Bananas. They also enjoyed playing with scarves, covering their face and making circles with it, and shaking the eggs all over their bodies.
Have a great weekend!
Ms. Lorena and Ms. Abbi
