Happy Friday Aspen Families!
Our focus this week was exploring different art mediums such as water color, crayons, sand, and foam paint through the use of different tools such as; funnels, spray bottles, and finger painting! On Monday we observed various paintings by famous artists (Starry Night by: Vincent Van Gogh, Purple Petunia by: Georgia O’Keeffe, and Claude Monet’s Garden at Giverny). The children then drew a picture of what they observed with crayons and added watercolor as well. On Wednesday the children used watercolor and spray bottles to make colorful flowers on coffee filters and using glue, added on a “stem” using a pop-sickle stick! On Friday, the children painted with foam paint on a large piece of butcher paper during our outside time! This was a lot of fun!
We read a variety of books this week about colors and classroom rules! In literacy with Ms. Charlotte, the children listened to stories and played an I Spy game!
In Spanish this week, Ms. Susan reviewed a favorite song called “Los Pollitos Dicen” and she also reviewed numbers counting up to thirty!
In music, Ms. Kathleen brought in a variety of musical instruments such as; the triangle, the cymbals, mini finger cymbals, and wooden block shakers. Everyone was given a chance to play each instrument going around the circle.
Next week we will focus on sorting differently shaped items as well as differently colored items.
Have a wonderful weekend!
Ms. Natalie and Ms. Megan
