Good afternoon Evergreen families!

This week in Evergreen the children have been discussing the things they like to do, so they can find out what they have in common with others. We discussed what it feels like to meet new people (children). You might feel shy or nervous because you don’t know what someone else likes or does not like. The children discovered many things they have in common with each other. From hide and seek to rolling down the hill, and building with blocks or singing and dancing, there are many ways to have fun with different friends.

The children learned about shapes while discussing geometry with Ms. Lindsey. They are discovering how many lines and points each shape has, as a way to identify what shape they are looking at. They also worked on fine motor skills as they practiced tracing shapes.

In science, the children learned how to identify whether something is alive or not alive. Does it breathe, need water/food, grow, and move on its own? If it does, then it is a living organism. We played a fun sorting game, and talked about objects in the classroom and on the playground to discover what is alive or not alive.

Ms. Natalie worked with the children on literacy skills. They worked on naming objects, discussing what the objects are for and how we use them in our lives. Then they played a game of I Spy, using the clues they discovered about the objects.

Next week the children will be discovering more of their world, starting with individual characteristics, likes and dislikes, and the many things they know how to do.

A quick reminder…If you pick your child up from the playground at the end of the day, please be sure to make contact with a teacher, so the teacher knows your child is leaving. Thank you.

Have a great weekend!

Ms. Riann, Ms. Lindsey, Ms. Natalie, and Ms. Suzan
