Good afternoon Evergreen families!

This week in Evergreen, the children learned about the community they live in. They participated in many activities that taught them about the people in their community, and how they can be a helping member in their community.

In science, the children sorted pictures of people they may see working in their community, and the tools people use in their jobs. They learned about firefighters, mail carriers, doctors, the grocer, and more. In art, the children brainstormed ideas about how they can be helpful to others, and used stamp pads to decorate a poster of helping hands. We sang many new songs about people they may meet in their community, like police officers or people who work in a restaurant.

Literacy lessons had the children learning about the letters D, P, H, and Z. They practiced beginning sounds with an I Spy object game, and by the end of the week they were matching letters with those sounds.

Our social/emotional group times helped the children learn to work together with Buddy Up activities. Some buddies played I Spy, while others put together movement patterns for their buddy to follow. Other buddies linked arms and worked on moving together through the classroom, while some pairs played Simon Says.

October begins next week, and we will be focusing our learning on autumn and the ways life on Earth is changing around us.

Have a wonderful weekend!

The Evergreen Team,

Ms. Riann, Ms. Suzan, Ms. Lindsey, Ms. Becky, and Ms. Suzanne
