Good afternoon Birch families,
This week the class focused their attention on all things Halloween! The children created bats, spiders and pumpkins during art and learned the songs “Flutter, flutter little bat” and “One little, two little, three little pumpkins”. During small circle the children listened along to the books Old Old Witch, Which Witch is Which?, Halloween Performance and Rattlbone Rock.
During music with Ms. Kathleen, the children danced with scarves to Mozart, sang along to “These are a few of my favorite things” created music using rhythm sticks and shaker eggs and practiced banging on a small drum.
Practical life skills continued to grow by working with textured puzzles, flipping jackets on to go outside, scooping stars with a spoon and transferring water with a sponge and eye droppers.
The Birch class continued to work on their large motor skills by walking on their tip toes, walking sideways and backwards, jumping across stepping stones and crawling through the tunnel outside.
During P.E. with Ms. Kira, the class flapped their arms like bats, practiced walking across bubble steps, color sorted bean bags and imitated animal actions.
Next week the Birch class will be learning all about manners.
Have a spooky weekend!
