Good afternoon Forest Families!

This week in Forest we started our new play theme of Grocery Store! All week children have been creating props and decorations to turn our classroom into different sections of a grocery store. Children created flowers and flower displays for the new Flower Shop, made a sign and cashier vests for the Checkout, created cakes and a sign for the Bakery, made meats and cheese for the Deli, and they created produce for the Produce section.

As children worked to create props, we also discussed what different roles are seen at a grocery store. We practiced acting as not only a customer but as a cashier, a florist, a baker, a manager, a produce worker, and a deli clerk. Next week we will continue to add props and decorations to each center and practice more roles for pretend play!

To celebrate the season this week, Forest children explored more books about Fall and Halloween. We talked about how people can celebrate (or not celebrate) the holiday and what we will be doing in the classroom. Children also had the chance to examine the insides of apples and pumpkins! After examining the apples, some children practiced painting and stamping with apple pieces too. We looked inside of pumpkins and gourds during Science this week as well.

Next week we will wrap up our discussion of Halloween and continue with our new play theme!

Have a fantastic weekend!
