October 28

Dear River Families,

This week in River we continued studying owls and bats! Centers this week included listening to a silly story about monsters and then worked to build our new sight words with magnetic letters and the moveable alphabet. In other centers, the children used fun art materials to create, “silly creatures”, and make a book titled, “In the dark of the Night”. We did math with the pumpkin that your child chose from Isabelle Farms! We discussed what making a prediction means and made predictions about the weight in pounds and the height in unifix cubes that our pumpkins would be! We read a few “spooky” stories and identified words that seem spooky. We discussed scary/not scary and identified why some things might seem scary but are not. We made Owl puppets in a “copy, cut and paste” art activity.

We measured our class pumpkin and predicted the amount of seeds inside! We worked together to clean out the pumpkin, separate the seeds then enjoyed baking and tasting them with sea salt and olive oil! In addition to pumpkin predictions, we continued working with our math workbooks focusing on numbers 6,7,8. We completed weekly readers about the election and read the book, “Duck for President” as this is a relevant topic to current events in our country.

We are looking forward to celebrating fall by dressing up on Monday! I can’t believe that it will be our 50th day of school already on Tuesday! Wow, the year is flying already! No shares next week. Have a great weekend!

Sincerely,

Ms. Stephanie and Ms. Kira
