Hello Garden and Mountain Families.
What a chilly week it has been. Fitting: as this week, we had a theme of ‘Arctic Animals.’ The children enjoyed looking at pictures of penguins, polar bears, seals, arctic foxes, wolves, etc. With a couple of the animals, we could make the animals noises, which the children find amusing. We also read Ten Playful Penguins, Arctic Animals, Who Am I? Snowy Animals, and Arctic Babies.
In music class, Ms. Kathleen broke out her “Frosty the Snowman” book and sang along. The children always seem to enjoy seeing pictures that go with the songs we sing. We sang along to an “Over in the Arctic” book, as well, which is a play on “Over in the Meadow.” It’s fun to enjoy these alterations.
The Mountain children made penguins with their footprints and pasted together polar bear faces, while the Garden children made strings of lights with their fingerprints. There are so many fun possibilities with winter-themed art projects, and the children seem to love doing them.
Have a great weekend.
